2012 Comparison Shopping Engine (CSE) Holiday CPC Rates


It’s that time of year again and the larger comparison shopping engines have released their annual holiday CPC rate increases. Below is a quick breakdown of what to expect and for how long. It’s important during the holiday times to make sure you monitor your spend as the clicks and rates rise over the next two months.


Holiday Rate Card Dates: October 22, 2012 – January 7, 2013
Increase Amount: 15% to 35%

PriceGrabberHoliday Rate Card Dates: November 1, 2012 – January 15, 2013
Increase Amount: 25% on all subcategories in rate card

Important Notice: 
Only your fixed CPC Rate Card rates will be increased. If you are participating in our bidding program, please note that your active bid amounts will not be automatically adjusted. The CPC rates of competing product offers will increase. If you do not take action and adjust your bids to account for the 25% increase, you will lose visibility and traffic in the biggest retail season of the year.

Increase Amount: 15% or 25% (77% of the categories are NOT changing.)

Shopzilla / Bizrate

Important Notice: Back in July Shopzilla/Bizrate introduced “Smart Pricing”.  Smart Pricing varies your CPC charges by conversion and performance so if clicks do not convert at a high level your average CPC charge will be less.  In order for the program to work Shopzilla had to increase minimum bids in these categories. The best news Shopzilla announced about Smart Pricing, is that once the new rates took effect, there will be no further rate card adjustments this year.  This means
