Bing Shopping and Shopping.com – Partnership Announcement

Bing and Shopping.com (an eBay Company) have announced a strategic partnership today. Bing is going to display Shopping.com listings into their existing Bing Shopping results. It will be interesting to see how this plays out and if it is beneficial to each. It will also be interesting to see if Google reacts by trying to create any additional partnerships for its shopping portal. All in all, this should be a great move for Shopping.com as Bing instantly becomes their largest co-branded partner capable of giving Shopping a greater position in the comparison shopping arena. For Bing, it should dramatically increase the number of products offered and improve the overall search experience for its users.

It’s going to be interesting for the merchants to see how much exposure Bing gives to these new paid listings over the existing free listings. And for the consumers, will they really benefit from this new partnership. Only time will tell, but we will be watching. Of course, this new partnership will roll out right before the holiday season.
